Consumer acceptance of bacteriophage technology for microbial control
The One Health initiative aims to address antimicrobial resistance (AMR) by promoting public understanding and willingness to use non-antibiotic alternatives. A study of 1497 Pakistani consumers examined their knowledge of antibiotics, bacteriophages, and AMR, perceived threat to AMR, and acceptance of alternative microbial control technologies. Results showed that familiarity with antibiotics and bacteriophages significantly influences acceptance of alternative microbial control technologies and perceptions of resulting products. However, providing information about the technology did not significantly alter respondents’ perception of most quality attributes.
